Farewell Meeting with Botswana students,
departing to Russia for study
The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Botswana would like to inform that on September 7, 2009 H.E. Ambassador of Russia to Botswana Mr. A.Korsun hosted the Farewell Meeting with Botswana students, departing to Russia for study.
The number of students leaving to study in Russia this year is unprecedented. 36 young people are going to receive the degrees in engineering, medicine, mining, geology and meteorology among others.
H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Botswana Mr. Anatoly Korsun underlined that during the past years thousands of Africans studied in the USSR. At present many of them occupy leading positions in the government, parliament, army and business. They are working as doctors, teachers, lawyers etc.
Modern Russia continues this tradition – annually the Russian Government grants to the African countries more than 800 state scholarships for studying in different Russian Universities.
The Russian Higher Education is a complete system, consisting from more than 600 State Universities and Specialized Institutions with more than 7,5 mln people studying there.
The Russian Higher Education gives students a unique chance to choose from more than 500 specialties, which are in a great demand all over the world.
Russian Higher Education gives students the chance to get acquainted with the achievements of the world science, to establish ties and contacts with the best specialists from many countries of the world.
Also, the Russian language is one of the official languages of the United Nations organization and more than 300 mln people all around the world speak Russian – the language of the great writers, poets, scientists, painters and musicians.
And finally, today specialists who complete their higher education in Russia are in a great demand in the international labour markets. Graduates of the Russian Higher Education Establishments work in famous international companies, hold high positions in business, governmental and legislative bodies of many countries.
