The Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Botswana would like to inform that on August, 5 2008 the Russian Film Festival organized by the Gaborone Film Society in cooperation with the Russian Embassy was officially opened in Maru-a-Pula school.
H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Botswana Mr Anatoly Korsun underlined in his opening speech that this important cultural event already became a good tradition in Gaborone.
The Festival opened with a classical movie “The Cranes are Flying” which is recognized by the film professionals as one of the best Russian films ever made.
The Festival will continue during the month of August with one Russian film being shown every Tuesday at 19-00 at A/V Centre of Maru-a-Pula school.
This memorable event will definitely contribute to the development of the Russia-Botswana cultural ties and will help local people to learn more about Russia.
