CROWN OF THE RUSSIAN BALLET IN GABORONE
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Botswana would like to inform that the Crown of the Russian Ballet artists have made two spectacular shows in Gaborone on September 11-12, 2007.
The theatre troupe performed classical one-act ballets Carmen by G. Bizet, Romeo and Juliet by P. Tchaikovsky and extracts from The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutracker and The Symphony No. 5.
The Crown of the Russian Ballet was founded in 1997 as the choreography of the day demanded a new repertoire. The Company is headed by Artistic Director Mrs Anna Alexidze, the representative of a famous ballet dynasty, and Chief Choreographer Mr Anatoly Emelianov, the leading dancer of the Company. The repertoire of the Crown Russian Ballet includes classical masterpieces as well as modern dance staged by Mr Anatoly Emelianov, which were recognized by ballet professionals as very interesting and progressive in the framework of the world choreography.
Over the years the Company has become one of the best ballet groups in Moscow. The Crown of the Russian Ballet has toured successfully in Russia, the USA, Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Israel, Japan, China and many other countries.
The show on the September 11 was attended by H.E. President of Botswana Mr Festus Mogae, H.E. Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Botswana Mr Igor Liakin-Frolov, Honourable Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture of Botswana Major General Moeng Pheto, Honourable Minister of Justice, Defence and Security of Botswana Mr Phandu Skelemani, political figures, members of diplomatic corps, businessmen and other dignitaries.
This memorable event has definitely contributed to the development of the Russia-Botswana cultural ties and afforded the art lovers in Botswana the unique opportunity to admire the beauty of the Russian ballet.
